A bold step for a new Life

As a girl I got a protected life from my mother and father who tended to my every need and before I could even ask for anything my wishes would be fulfilled. This was the life that I lived till I entered college.
College life also involves growth and expression of oneself as an individual and for the first time I thought of establishing myself as an independent person.
At college my professors encouraged me to come out of my shell and explore other aspects of college life be it social work, dramatics, dancing, singing, debating or other cultural and co-curricular activities. I was initially hesitant and apprehensive but slowly felt confident as I began to perform well in various activities. Even though I enjoyed all the events but singing and dramatics were my favorite.  By the time I passed out of college I had become an important member of the dramatics society and had taken part in numerous plays. When I passed out of college my parents started looking for a suitable groom for me. In the meantime I got an offer to teach dramatics at a school in another city. The offer was lucrative and very enticing however till now I had always lived in the protection and guidance of my parents so how could I go? That too alone. As both my parents had full time jobs neither could they quit their jobs for me nor could they take a long leave to accompany and stay with me in another city. However the prospects of being on my own and exploring a new life tempted me. Despite my parents reluctance I accepted the teaching assignment. My parents felt that as there were no relatives and friends in that new city so where would I live? On the other hand this uncertainty excited me. Since it was my life and I had two options. One was to get married to a boy of my parents choice and on the other was an option to live and explore a life of freedom. I chose the latter option and decided to #StartANewLife of my own. However to soothe my parents already frayed nerves I searched on an online portal for a suitable accommodation. With so many options of properties which were close to my place of work I was spoiled for choice. I showed my parents the pictures of the houses available on rent and this pacified my parents greatly. I shortlisted two houses and with the help of the website finalized the deal for one of the properties. Then packing my bags I embarked on the first solo journey to what would be my home. A house that would bear my name and all the letters addressed to me would be delivered to me without the use of "daughter of " before my name as has been the case till now. From birthday cards to mark sheets all the correspondences that came to me had my  fathers name before mine and  my only identity was that of his daughter. Now that was about to change.
Now I live in my own house which bears my name. When my parents come and stay with me people address them as my parents and this makes me so proud that finally I have broken out of their shadow and my bold move has helped me start a new life
